The Hot Room House Rules
Proceed accordingly.
The rest of this card is commentary.
Sit on a towel. Always.
Sweat goes in the towel. The bench belongs to everybody.
Wear something clean.
Your gym shorts have been on a treadmill. Think of the room.
Shower first.
Sixty seconds. The whole room thanks you and will never say so.
Shoes stay outside.
Nobody has ever needed traction on a bench.
Close the door behind you. Quickly.
Every second it's open, someone else pays for it.
Ask before you pour.
The stones are a shared resource, and so is everyone's face. If the room's sign says no water, it means no water.
No phones.
The sauna doesn't need to see your emails. Your phone doesn't like it in here either.
A nod is plenty.
Say hello. Talk quietly if the room's talking. If someone's eyes are shut, they've stated their position.
Move your towel. Make room.
There's always space for one more if everyone shifts six inches.
This is not your bathroom.
No shaving, no clipping, no exfoliating. Nobody should have to say this. And yet.
Scent is a matter for the group.
Hold the cologne. Eucalyptus goes to a vote.
Bring water, and drink it.
Outside the room is fine. Glass stays out altogether.
Leave when you want to.
Nobody is keeping score. Anyone who is should be ignored. If you feel unwell, get out and tell someone.
The sign on the door outranks this card.
If your gym has a rule, follow your gym. Take your towel with you on the way out.
