A running-cut short with a 5-inch inseam, a washed linen shell, a cotton liner, a covered elastic waistband and a cotton drawcord. There's a hidden pocket on the front of the liner for a cold pack. It's for wearing in saunas where clothes are expected. Always check your sauna's rules.

After sports whites. Tennis, cricket and sailing all have a proper thing to wear, in white. The sauna has had your gym shorts. "Cool" is the pocket.

You can. If they haven't been to the gym with you, they're probably fine. The point of ours is a clean pair kept just for the sauna, in linen and cotton, with a pocket if you want one.

Plenty of people do, and if it works for you, carry on. The case for ours is one garment with nothing to layer, linen and cotton against you, and a pair you never work out in.

White linen can go sheer when wet. That's what the cotton liner is for. It also shows stains, so sit on a towel.

The plan is washed linen at about 130 to 200 g/m². We're also sampling linen/cotton and linen/Tencel. Planned fibers, heaviest first: linen, cotton, wool, rubber, polyester. The rubber is in the waistband elastic. The polyester is the reflective film inside the pocket, and it faces away from your skin. So this isn't an all-natural garment and we won't call it one. Against your skin it's a linen shell and a cotton liner.

The first pattern is cut for men, with a brief-style liner. Other people have asked for a clean sauna short too. If that's you, tell us. It helps.

For the one who won't shut up about the sauna, yes. We're aiming for summer 2027, so it's a slow gift. You can change the size any time before you pay.

The brief is that it reads as shorts from three feet away. The pack and felt add some thickness at the front, and the leg is cut loose to carry it.

We're designing for a full round, and we'll publish the numbers before the first batch ships.

Then you're wearing a nice pair of linen shorts with something soft in the pocket. Take it out if it bothers you, or swap in a second pack from the sleeve.

The pack sits behind fabric. Never put a frozen pack directly on bare skin. If you go numb, take it out. Please don't use it if you have reduced sensation, circulation problems or cold sensitivity without asking someone qualified first, and don't use it if it leaks.

It's designed not to, and a towel goes under you regardless. See Rule 1.

In the wool sleeve, which is sold separately, or a towel in your bag. The sleeve is built for exactly this.

Wool felt is the insulating layer in the pocket and the material of the sleeve. It's a good insulator, it's a pleasant thing to hold, and it isn't another piece of foam.

No. That's why there's a $54 version with an empty pocket. Some people only want the shorts, and we'd honestly like to know how many.

$10 per short, counted toward your price. It's refundable any time before your order ships, for any reason. Add-ons carry no deposit. We'll email the final total and ask you to confirm before charging the balance.

$68 first-batch price with two cold packs, $54 with an empty pocket. Two extra packs are $18 and the wool sleeve is $24. We plan to sell the short and packs at $84 afterward. Shipping and any sales tax are confirmed by email before your balance is charged.

If a date changes, we'll email you, and you can take your deposit back or keep your place. If we don't go ahead with production, every deposit gets refunded in full. Today there's nothing to refund, because nothing has been paid.
